REMORSE OF THE EXAMPLE

By Roland E. Williams

I handed you over to them, didn’t I?

Like Ioudas, that traitor

I figured it was the thing to do

Now it’s too late

To return the silver

They sweet-talked you, didn’t they?

So perfectly politically!

How could you know

That the Devil’s friend

Always wears white?

The accused was never alleged

And denied his rights

To absently witness

His own condemnation

And unilateral conviction

Execution style swiftness!

So why are you here now

Safely visiting from afar?

My prison has been marked

And it is wherever you’re not

Impenetrable stone-less walls

Surround your hearts

Now what you speak

Contradicts all else

And I’m assured (once) again

That love and hate

Are faithful spouses

Inseparable forever
