RIBBONS

By Roland E. Williams

Sweet dreams wished -way too often-

None willing, to make them so

The dreams of lovers -no more-

Once life has taken its course

Our lips are always eager to speak

Words, we have not carefully chosen,

Which we shall repeat time and again

Only the ass avoids the same stone

In love’s embarrassing moments,

We often smile, and deny it,

To forego what makes us human

And pretend we are more than that
